“We aim to create an knowledge sharing ecosystem”
In his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Özdinç, Head of the Management Information Systems Department, stated that the aim of the event was to create a knowledge sharing ecosystem across the faculty. Emphasizing that knowledge is the most valuable asset, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özdinç said, “Sharing and managing this knowledge is as important as acquiring it. Our goal is to ensure that the education provided in the courses is not only an individual gain, but also a social contribution activity that is shared with students in other departments. In this way, we want to strengthen the culture of solidarity within our faculty and department.” Expressing the importance of digital literacy, Özdinç said that it is important to make a difference in the competitive work environment after graduation. Özdinç said, “The systems to be offered here are not just technical software; they are tools that will accelerate the decision-making processes of students in different disciplines such as Economics, Business Administration, or Public Administration and support them in deriving meaningful results from data.”
“The combination of management and IT skills will gain importance in the public sector.”
In his speech, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Gökhan Demirtaş emphasized the importance of students moving beyond merely acquiring information during their education and taking on the role of transmitting and presenting knowledge. Emphasizing that the student-centered structure of the event is a valuable example in terms of putting educational methods into practice, Prof. Dr. Demirtaş said, “This event is a pleasing development for our faculty as it is a platform where students share their technical knowledge.” Giving examples from his own career and experience in the IT sector, Prof. Dr. Demirtaş advised students on seizing opportunities and trends in the sector. Emphasizing the growing need for integrated software systems in public administration, Demirtaş said, “Integrated information management systems are needed for the management of complex areas in the public sector, the monitoring of legal regulations, and the efficient use of resources. In the future, the employment of qualified human resources who are both proficient in management processes and possess IT skills will be of critical importance in the public sector. Although the IT sector has its challenges, it is a dynamic field that offers a wide range of job opportunities.”
The event ended with presentations by department students on related software.
